Part one: Sarah Gonstead vanishes after a night of drinking with Penny Brummer, who said she left Gonstead in a parking lot with some bikers near a "bug-eyed" van. Part two: Gonstead's body is found west of Madison. Brummer is arrested after a witness says she and Gonstead were at a bar just down the road from the site. Part three: Prosecutors build their case with circumstantial evidence -- and surprise testimony. Part four: Brummer's defenders try to sow doubt and identify other suspects. Part five: Debating into the wee hours, jurors finally reach a unanimous verdict: Guilty. Part six: Authors raise new questions, and one figure in the case denies that police ever talked to him.
