Historically there has been a loss of civil liberties when the US enters a war.  In most cases, limitations are repealed once the war has concluded.  The strikes on our country on September 11th, 2001, and the resulting “War or Terror” have introduced the Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act; known by most as the USA PATRIOT Act.

This section will look at previous acts that have compromised civil liberties during wartime, and how surveillance has become prevalent in our society today.
